This is because Johnson has said the UK will not be in a customs union with the EU, and he will abandon "level playing field" arrangements in future regulations. The effect of this, the economists estimate, is that UK incomes per head in 10 years' time will be as much as 7% lower than they would otherwise be, and annual public borrowing will be up to £49bn higher.
The report's estimates used the LSE's Centre for Economic Performance trade model, and separate calculations for productivity and migration.
