In a recent study, Ana Valero and John van Reenen tell us how much the economic benefits of the presence of a university in the region amount to by studying 15 thousand universities located in 1,500 different regions in 78 countries, including Mexico. Their results demonstrate when the number of Universities in a region is doubled, there is an increase in GDP per capita by 4%.
