Biography
Professor Henry G. Overman is Professor of Economic Geography in the Department of Geography and Environment at the London School of Economics and Director of the What Works Centre for Local Economic Growth. He is Research Director of the Centre for Economics Performance, and was formerly director of the Spatial Economics Research Centre.
Current areas of research include:
- Better understanding the causes of spatial disparities: The extent to which these arise from composition ('sorting') versus area effects ('some places are more productive than others'); how housing costs and other amenities partially offset nominal disparities; role of policy Impact evaluation of government policies: Enterprise Zones; Local Transport Schemes; Capital Investments in Further Education Colleges; Growth Voucher Programme"
