Financial Post:
William Watson: How trading with thuggish China helped the U.S.

31 October 2019

A new research paper from the U.S. Federal Reserve Board suggests the record is not all negative - as you might actually expect, given that China's success in penetrating the U.S. market was not imposed on Americans but embraced by them, with a vengeance.
Written by economists Xavier Jaravel of the London School of Economics and Erick Sager of the Fed's research staff, the paper looks at what happened to U.S. consumer prices, and why, from the 1990s on. It's the kind of research only possible in the computer age.
