Biography
Dr Jenifer Ruiz-Valenzuela is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Economics (School of Economics, Universitat de Barcelona). She is also a researcher at the Barcelona Institute of Economics (IEB), and a Research Associate at the Centre for Economic Performance at the London School of Economics. She received her PhD in Economics from the European University Institute in Florence. Before joining UB in September 2021, she worked as a Research Economist at the Centre for Economic Performance, in the Education and Skills group. She was also the Research Coordinator of the Centre for Vocational Education Research at the LSE. She previously worked as a consultant for the Economics directorate of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, and as a Junior Economist at the Bank of Spain.
Current areas of research include:
- Economics of education: high stake exams; value-added of post-16 Further Education Institutions; gender gaps in education; adult education
- Labour economics: intergenerational transmission of labour market shocks
- Gender economics: consequences of family policies for child outcomes and labour market outcomes
