Biography

Ufuk Altunbüken is a Pre-Doctoral Research Assistant at LSE’s Centre for Economic Performance, working with Professor Stephen Machin on projects studying British labour market institutions. He holds an M.Phil. in Economics from the University of Oxford, with previous studies at LSE, UC Berkeley, and Maastricht University. His research interests span labour economics, public economics, and economic history. His own work focuses on the labour market effects of West Germany’s temporary foreign worker programmes of the 1960s and 1970s.

Current areas of research include:

  • Labour market institutions: British trade unionism; Collective bargaining; Regulatory impacts on unionization; Wage differentials.
