Biography

Yulu Tang is an Assistant Professor of Managerial Economics and Strategy and Associate of the Centre for Economic Performance at the London School of Economics. She received her PhD in Economics from Harvard University in 2024 and spent 2024–25 as a Postdoctoral Fellow in International Trade at Dartmouth College. Her research focuses on workers, firms, and urban agglomeration, with a particular interest on how new technologies and market frictions affect worker productivity and firm growth in developing countries.

Current areas of research include:

  • Development Economics: migration, worker productivity and agglomeration, quality upgrading, supply chain
  • Trade: protectionism policies, quality upgrading, trade promotion and fairs
  • Digital Economy: data center, data security and localization policies
