Biography
Professor Emily Owens is a Visiting Professor at the Centre for Economic Performance for the academic year 2025-26. She is a Deans' Professor of Criminology and Economics at the University of California, Irvine. She is the 2025 vice chair of the National Academies of Sciences and Medicine standing Committee on Law and Justice, a member of the Division of Experimental Criminology in the American Society of Criminology, an affiliated scholar at the US National Policing Institute and an affiliate of the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL).

- Prosecution in cases of intimate partner violence
- Police recruitment strategies and applicant composition
