Biography

Dr George MacKerron is a Senior Lecturer in Economics at the University of Sussex and an Associate at CEP. He is an applied economist: his research fields are the economics of wellbeing and environmental quality, behavioural economics, and applied panel and spatial analysis.

Current areas of research include:

  • Subjective wellbeing and behavioural economics: large-scale geo-located experience sampling (Mappiness study); momentary/hedonic happiness measures and monetary valuation; determinants of wellbeing; loss aversion.
  • Environment and wellbeing: environmental characteristics (green space, blue space, other); climate attitudes; environmental behaviour.
  • Labour economics: wellbeing, sleep, work and productivity.
