Biography

Lucas Silva Lopes is a Pre-Doctoral Research Assistant in the Centre for Economic Performance. He joined CEP in 2023 after obtaining an MSc in Master of Public Administration from LSE. He also holds a BA in Political Economy from King's College London. He is currently working on a project directed by Professor Stephen Machin and Dr Matteo Sandi on the impact of permanent school exclusion on youth crime in England.

Current areas of research include:

  • Economics of Education: Academy schools; Alternative Provision
  • Economics of Crime: Permanent exclusion from schools and youth crime
