Antonin Bergeaud named Best Young Economist of France, 2025

Congratulations to Dr Antonin Bergeaud who has been named the Best Young French Economist, 2025 by Le Monde and Le Cercle des Économists.

The prize is awarded to a French economist under the age of 41 in recognition of academic excellence. In particular, for the innovative nature of the research produced, and their contribution to public debate.

Dr Bergeaud, 36, is an associate professor in the economics and decision sciences department of HEC Paris and an associate in CEP’s growth programme.

He was particularly praised for his work on productivity, growth, innovation and the rise of artificial intelligence as a factor in the transformation of the world of work.

Previous winners of the prize include include: Thomas Piketty, professor of economics at the Paris School of Economics and research affiliate at LSE (2002), Professor Camille Landais, professor of economics at LSE (2016), Gabriel Zucman, associate professor of economics at UC Berkeley and former CEP associate (2018) and Xavier Jaravel, professor of economics at LSE and CEP associate (2021).
