About this event

How much does management matter in an era of disruption?

Countries and businesses have struggled to recover robust growth since the Covid-19 pandemic and the cost of living crisis. The UK has much lower productivity than many of its peers. The event addresses the role management plays in explaining firm and national performance.

Daniela Scur launches a new report - Management matters in an era of disruption - with the latest findings from the World Management Survey. This is the culmination of a 20-year project with in-depth interviews with nearly 20,000 firms in 38 countries.

Daniela Scur describes the startling variation of management practices across firms and countries and explains what could be driving these stark differences. This iteration of the survey asks new questions, examining how managers are coping with the impacts of climate change and supply chain disruption, and she addresses what business leaders and policymakers can do to improve managerial quality and performance.

Tera Allas discusses and gives a response to the report.

John Van Reenen acts as chair.
