PSI/CEP Event - The Survival and Growth of Firms: Findings and Policy Implications

Friday 07 December 2007 10:30 - 16:00

Conference Room, LRB 405, 4th Floor, Lionel Robbins Building, LSE, entrance in 10 Portugal Street, London WC2A 2HD

About this event

There is a growing literature in industrial organisation and industrial economics using micro-level firm and establishment data to test theory regarding the factors associated with survival and employment growth. This literature modifies some of the central tenets stemming from early theory, and indicates substantial heterogeneity in firms’ behaviour within industries and over the business cycle. This seminar will explore the determinants of employment growth and survival focusing on factors such as size, age, R&D, technology and human capital. The purpose of the seminar is to bring together academics and policy makers to consider findings from recent studies and their policy implications.
