About this event

This paper studies gangs in Brazil, an underexplored yet highly disruptive setting in organised crime. Using information from the intelligence, occurrences and prison records, we identify and label gang clusters by optimising the Markov stability of community structure. We analyse the identified clusters through different network statistics. We find a strong correlation between most individual centrality measures, while intercentrality highlights that some “key players” may have been missed in official hierarchical classifications. The findings of this study will help assess and outline optimal disruption strategies in this setting.

Participants are expected to adhere to the CEP Events Code of Conduct.
