CEP Announcement:
Restarting the Future: How to Fix the Intangible Economy makes the FT’s summer reading list

30 June 2022

Restarting the Future: How to Fix the Intangible Economy has been chosen as one of the best mid-year reads by the Financial Times.

The book by Jonathan Haskel and Stian Westlake is described by the paper’s chief economics commentator Martin Wolf as “thought-provoking”.

Restarting the Future reveals how the problems of sluggish economic growth and mounting inequality arise from a failure to develop the institutions demanded by an economy now reliant on intangible capital such as ideas, relationships, brands and knowledge.

Jonathan Haskel is a professor of economics at Imperial College Business School, Imperial College London and director of the doctoral programme at the School and an associate of CEP. Stian Westlake is the chief executive of the Royal Statistical Society.
