CALL FOR PAPERS
This event has been postponed. We apologise for any inconvenience caused, and plan that this event will be rescheduled for a later date.
The Youth Trade Workshop aims to bring together early-career researchers interested in International Trade. The objective is to promote a supportive community among young researchers, giving the possibility to receive feedback from more senior colleagues.
The format of the workshop will consist of six presentations, each one followed by a discussion from one or more senior faculty members. Among those who have already confirmed their attendance at the workshop and their willingness to act as discussants are: Carlo Altomonte, Paola Conconi, Swati Dhingra, Stephen Machin, John Morrow, Gianmarco Ottaviano, Mathieu Parenti, Thomas Sampson, Daniel Sturm, Catherine Thomas.
We will consider papers from PhD students and Postdocs. We particularly encourage papers from PhD students on the academic job market in January 2021 or the two years following. Submissions co-authored with more senior colleagues are also welcome.
The official workshop programme will start in the morning on May 29 at 9.30 am and end at 5.30 pm. A Policy Panel on "The future of UK trade policy" will follow from 6 pm to 7.30 pm. The official workshop programme includes a social event after the Policy Panel on May 29.
The workshop is being hosted by the Centre for Economic Performance at the London School of Economics and Political Science. We will be providing up to two nights' accommodation in London and economy-class travel for all presenters. Participation is also encouraged for non-presenters - the workshop provides a great opportunity to meet other junior economists working in international trade. Meals will be provided for all those attending the workshop. Unfortunately we will be unable to reimburse travel and accommodation for non-presenters.
To submit a paper or extended abstract, please send a PDF with the subject line "Youth Trade Workshop" to youthtradeworkshop@gmail.com. Papers should not yet be published before the workshop. The submission deadline is January 15th, 2020. Authors will be notified of the outcome by February 15th, 2020.
If you would like to attend the workshop but are not presenting, please register your interest by emailing cep.events@lse.ac.uk. In your email, please state your name, affiliation and current status (e.g. 3rd year PhD student). We strongly encourage attendance for non-presenters!
The workshop is organized by Swati Dhingra (LSE and CEP); Josh De Lyon (University of Oxford and CEP) and Tommaso Sonno (University of Bologna and CEP). The workshop will follow the NBER Conference Code of Conduct. We gratefully acknowledge the generous support from the LSE's Centre for Economic Performance (CEP) and the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC).
Participants are expected to adhere to the CEP Events Code of Conduct.
