CEP Public Lecture - Do we need more Immigrants and Babies?

Adair Turner (Chairman, Financial Services Authority)

Wednesday 28 November 2007 18:30 - 20:00

Old Theatre, Ground Floor, Old Building, LSE, Houghton Street, London WC2A 2AE

About this event

Faced with population ageing, many commentators argue that developed countries need higher fertility, more immigration or both. But others claim that immigration is pulling down the wages of unskilled labour, and that population growth has adverse welfare consequences. This lecture will present an integrated analysis of the economics of demographic change, exploring the advantages and disadvantages of different rates of population growth.
