Tracking the skills behind the AI boom: Evidence from 14 OECD countries

As artificial intelligence rapidly reshapes economies and societies, companies are seeking professionals with AI-related skills. This column uses data from online job postings to explore changes in the demand for these professionals in 14 OECD countries. Despite rapid growth in the past few years, AI-related online vacancies account for fewer than 1% of all job postings. While skills related to machine learning are the most in demand, many socio-emotional and foundational skills also play an important role. Both technical and soft skills will continue to be key as AI systems evolve.
