The COVID pandemic initiated an enduring shift to remote work. But there is little evidence to explain where this shift is taking place at a micro level because the sample sizes are too small. Stephen Hansen, Peter Lambert, Nicholas Bloom, Steven Davis, Raffaella Ssadun and Bledi Taska develop a large-language model flagging job postings offering remote work and apply the model to explore the trends in the shift to remote work in five English-speaking countries.
