Biography:David Metcalf is Professor of Industrial Relations at the London School of Economics and has been a visiting Professor at Princeton University and the Australian National University. He has worked extensively on the economic impact of unions and on pay systems and structures. Outside the LSE he is a member of the Low Pay Commission which sets the national minimum wage, and of the Union Modernisation Fund which allocates £10m of public money.
He owns a leg of a national hunt horse and is a Jockey Club Steward at Plumpton and Kempton Park and a member of the Starting Price Regulatory Commission.
