Elias is a senior researcher at VATT. His areas of research are economics of innovation and labour economics. His recent work has examined the impacts of government support and tax incentives on R&D, productivity, and innovation; and the effects of place-based policies with a specific focus on the displacement of economic activity. In other strands of research he has examined changes in the structure of labour demand; and peer effects in the labor markets and schools.

Current Areas of Research:

Innovation policy; place-based policy; labour demand; peer effects.
