Biography:Guy Michaels is an Associate Professor in the Department of Economics at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). He is also a research associate at Centre for Economic Performance (CEP) at the LSE, a research affiliate at the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR), an affiliate at the Bureau for Research and Economic Analysis of Development (BREAD), and an external research associate at the Oxford Centre for the Analysis of Resource Rich Economies (OxCarre). He received a B.Sc. in Mathematics, magna cum laude, from Tel-Aviv University in 2000 and a Ph.D. in Economics from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2006.
Current Areas of Research:
Guy's current research in labor economics involves studying the changes in tasks performed in the economy over time, the role of technology and especially automation, and the implications for productivity and income distribution. His research on urbanization focuses primarily on the consequences of large urban floods, and on the evolving nature of cities, especially in Africa.
