Internal union behaviour

The TUC-funded British Workplace Representation and Participation Survey, designed by the CEP, has performed an important role in collecting data on the views of workers in unionised and non-union workplace towards all forms of workplace representation, matching similar work done in the US. If unions are to fulfil their role in representing employees, they need to know employees' preferences and needs. A new form of workplace representation is the organisational ombudsman, and as this alternative form of dispute resolution could affect the desire of employees to join trade unions, the first UK academic study of this area is being undertaken at the CEP.
